Committee of the Whole

  • Council approved background studies for a new Paramedic base at the former Patrol D location in Dundalk. The current paramedic base in Durham is co-shared with the Dundalk Fire Department. As Dundalk and Southgate grow, the fire department needs additional space. Council authorized a project budget of $2.47 million to be funded by debenture and directed staff to issue an RFP prior to 2026 budget approval. The location was selected based on ideal response times for the area, and the decision to build a new base rather than expand the existing facility was made to accommodate future growth and allow the fire department to utilize the current space. Future bases are planned for Ayton and other locations based on a comprehensive deployment review. Report
  • Council received a request from the Town of The Blue Mountains for further planning approval authority delegations. Council directed staff to work with the Town to consult with the public; research options for delegating planning approvals for subdivisions, condominiums, and part lot control from the County to the Town; and prepare a draft memorandum of understanding for future consideration by Town and County Councils. Report
  • Council directed staff to respond to a survey issued by the Ministry of Long-Term Care regarding the potential future redevelopment and reuse of the existing Rockwood Terrace building as a long-term care facility. Staff were directed to advise the Ministry that extending the operational lifespan of the current facility would present significant operational and financial constraints, and that Grey County does not have capacity to operate a fourth long-term care facility at this time. Report
  • Council received several items through the consent agenda including a resolution regarding the Canada Post Mandate Review; the quarterly purchasing report for Q3 2025; an information report on the proposed East Mountain Subdivision application; and an information report on County Official Plan Amendment 28 to redesignate lands in the Municipality of West Grey. The Warden and Clerk were also authorized to sign a memorandum of understanding with Bruce County for 2025 – 2028 regarding the Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership.
