July 10 Grey County Council Highlights
Grey County Council met July 10, 2025, in the Grey County Council Chamber and virtually on Zoom. The meeting was immediately followed by a session of Committee of the Whole. A recording of the meeting can be found on the Grey County YouTube Channel.
County Council
- Council accepted the minutes of the June 26 Grey County Council and Committee of the Whole meetings.
- Council noted a correction in the June 26 Committee of the Whole closed session. Due to a miscalculated vote, the vote to hold training on the Code of Conduct in closed session was carried and should have been lost. Council voted to release the minutes of the closed session.
- Council received the Board of Health minutes dated May 23, 2025, for information. Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra provided a reflection on the 25th anniversary of the Walkerton tragedy and an update on current measles activity, noting favourable trends with no current active cases or hospitalizations.
- Council passed by-laws 5240-25, 5241-25, and 5242-25, including authorization of a donation agreement to convey CP Rail Trail lands to the Township of Southgate, a land disposition in West Grey for a municipal well, and a by-law to confirm all proceedings of council.
- Council acknowledged the recent passing of past Grey County Warden Murray Betts.
- Council celebrated the 25th anniversary of Grey Ag Services.
Committee of the Whole
- Council heard a delegation from Western University researchers Dr. Don Eby and Dr. Sayra Cristancho presenting findings from their study on Supportive Outreach Services (S.O.S.) in Grey County. The study highlighted six key lessons including the importance of trust-building, partnerships, leadership, flexibility, mobility, and sustainable investment.
- Council approved amendments to the traffic and parking by-law, including revised parking restrictions in Clarksburg, accessible parking stalls in West Grey, and an extended school safety zone.
- Council approved funding of up to $42,500 from the IT Technology Infrastructure Needs Reserve for a one-year licensing extension on server hardware at the administration building and long-term care homes to allow IT to thoroughly investigate options for long-term renewal.
- Council adopted the Budget and Finance Committee minutes dated June 25, 2025, including approval of the 2024 Financial Statements and related reports.
- Following a closed session, Council approved a motion to receive $105,000 in grant funding for the climate adaptation program.
