Age-Friendly Communities Strategy and Action Plan
Grey County is committed to becoming a more age-friendly community. In 2021-22, the County adopted an Age-Friendly Communities (AFC) Strategy and Action Plan and has received an Age-Friendly designation through the World Health Organization (WHO). Grey County and its communities are working towards creating inclusive opportunities for people of all ages to actively participate in all stages of life, and to thrive physically and economically, with dignity and independence.
The AFC Strategy and Action Plan will design a roadmap guiding the corporation to help ensure the decisions and actions reflect the needs of everyone, from youth to seniors and people with disabilities.

View Action Plan DocumentThis strategy and action plan focuses on the WHO’s eight age-friendly community domains: outdoor spaces and public buildings, transportation, housing, respect and social inclusion, civic participation and employment, community and information, community support and health services, and social participation.
As Grey County is a two-tier government, the Age-Friendly Community Strategy and Action Plan will interact with a number of existing municipal services and strategies. Ultimately, the success of the Strategy and Action Plan will be achieved through collaboration between the County, member municipalities, Indigenous Communities, and community stakeholders and agencies. It will be important for all to work together towards making the Action Plan a reality in Grey County.
