Rockwood Terrace influenza outbreak declared

December 19: Public Health has declared an influenza A outbreak on the 2nd Floor home area at Rockwood Terrace. Currently, four residents are experiencing symptoms. Test results have returned identifying the infectious agent as Influenza A, with additional results pending. The affected residents are isolating and receiving care.

We are working closely with our Public Health partners and monitoring the situation closely. As part of our outbreak response, the following measures are in effect:

  • Home wide universal masking (surgical mask) has been implemented for all staff and visitors.
  • Surgical masks or additional PPE are required when entering an isolation room.
    • PPE signage is posted at the resident’s room.
  • Residents in isolation are limited to 1 Designated Care Partner (DCP).
  • Increased surveillance and enhanced infection prevention and control measures are in place, including audits and hand hygiene audits.

The safety and wellbeing of our residents, families, and staff is our focus. We encourage all visitors to remain current with recommended vaccinations, especially those that protect against respiratory illnesses such as influenza and COVID-19. As a reminder, please refrain from visiting the home if you are feeling unwell. If you require additional information, please contact the home at 519-369-6035.
