Public Information Centre August 13 for Grey Road 12 Project

The Project

Grey County and Grey Highlands, in partnership, have started planning for the reconstruction of Grey Road 12 between the west limit of the Grey Highlands and Wellington Avenue in Markdale. The aging infrastructure along Grey Road 12 requires replacement, extensions and upsizing to adequately service the existing population and facilitate future growth within the community of Markdale. As such, the project will involve full road reconstruction including replacement of concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter, asphalt pavement, extension of sanitary sewer and upsizing watermain as well as, storm drainage improvements. The County and Grey Highlands is initiating a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to identify and evaluate alternatives to address the Problem Statement.

The Process

The project is being planned to follow the Schedule ‘A+’ process in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Municipal Engineers Association, March 2023) to identify, evaluate and make recommendations to improve traffic and pedestrian movements as well as upgrades and improvements to underground infrastructure. Consultation with affected or interested stakeholders and Indigenous Communities is a key element in the planning process.

Public Information Centre

A Public Information Centre will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2025. The purpose of the PIC is to allow residents and interested groups the opportunity to provide comments, and to collect feedback and input on the project.
