Notice: Environmental assessment for the reconstruction of Grey Road 12
Schedule ‘A+’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the Reconstruction of Grey Road 12, Markdale (West Limit of Grey Highlands to Wellington Avenue)
The Project:
Grey County and the Municipality of Grey Highlands have started planning for the reconstruction of Grey Road 12 between the west limits of the Municipality of Grey Highlands and Wellington Avenue in Markdale. The aging infrastructure along Grey Road 12 requires replacement, extension and upsizing to adequately service the current and population and support growth in the community. The project will involve full road reconstruction including replacement of sidewalks, curb and gutter, asphalt pavement, extension of sanitary sewer, upsizing the watermain and storm drain improvements. Grey County and Grey Highlands are initiating a Class Environmental Assessment (class EA) to identify and evaluate alternatives to addressing the servicing needs.

The Process:
The project is being planned to follow the Schedule ‘A+’ process in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Municipal Engineers Association, March 2023) to identify, evaluate and make recommendations to improve traffic and pedestrian movements as well as upgrades and improvements to underground infrastructure. Consultation with affected or interested stakeholders and Indigenous Communities is a key element in the planning process.
