Grey County paramedics recognized for exemplary service

Five Grey County paramedics have been recognized by the Province for their years of exceptional service. The Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal is awarded to professionals who have served at least 20 years in emergency medical services and performed their life-saving duties to the highest standard of care, conduct, and efficiency.

At the November 27, 2025 meeting of Grey County Council, paramedics Joe Draper, Jessica Robb, Paula Trombley and Leo Verschuren were recognized for their outstanding service. Naomi Liverance also received recognition but was unable to attend the meeting.

“These outstanding paramedics have shown remarkable commitment to emergency medical services throughout their careers,” said Kevin McNab, Grey County's director of paramedic services. “Their dedication to providing excellent care makes our communities safer, and it's wonderful to see them receive this well-deserved recognition."

Joe Draper serves as a supervisor out of the Owen Sound base and coordinates the honour guard and special events. Jessica Robb, Deputy Chief of Operations, has a focus on wellness and support and has developed programs to support paramedics. Paula Trombley has served 20 years working in Markdale and is currently co-chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Leo Verschuren worked in both Bruce and Grey Counties and, though now retired, continues to participate in the honour guard. Naomi Liverance works full-time in Bruce County and part-time with Grey County in multiple different roles.

Grey County Paramedic Services takes great pride in recognizing Joe, Naomi, Jessica, Paula, and Leo for their remarkable service. These outstanding paramedics have provided exceptional care during emergencies for over two decades, and in Leo Verschuren's case, an extraordinary 40 years. We extend our deepest gratitude and congratulations.
