Emergency Preparedness Week Comes to Grey County
Grey County will join communities across Canada in observing Emergency Preparedness Week from May 4-10, 2025. This national awareness initiative aims to help residents protect their families and their communities during emergencies.
This year's national theme is "Be Prepared. Know Your Risks," encouraging residents to understand potential hazards in their area and take appropriate actions to protect their households. Ontario's provincial theme, "Plan for every season," highlights the importance of year-round emergency preparedness for unique seasonal challenges.
Grey County encourages everyone to take three key steps during Emergency Preparedness Week:
- Know the risks – Understanding the types of emergencies that could affect our region is the first step to being prepared.
- Make a plan – Having a household emergency plan ensures everyone knows what to do if an emergency occurs.
- Build an emergency kit – Being self-sufficient for at least 72 hours is essential during an emergency situation.
