Respiratory Outbreak Declared at Grey Gables December 23
Update January 2, 2026: On January 2nd Public Health declared the influenza A outbreak over on the Pine Ridge home area at Grey Gables.
We would like to thank our team members for their unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our residents. The team quickly identified symptoms and prevented further spread using ongoing infection prevention and control measures. We also appreciate the support from our designated care partners and families. Grey Bruce Public Health were valuable contributors to the management of the outbreak, and we are thankful for their guidance and assistance.
As a reminder, outbreak protocols remain in place as we manage the Influenza A outbreak on the Maple Lane home area.
The safety of our residents, families, and staff remains our primary focus. We will continue with regular infection prevention and control audits and hand hygiene audits. Home wide universal masking (medical mask) remains in place for all staff and visitors.
We encourage all visitors to stay up to date with recommended vaccinations, especially those that protect against respiratory illnesses such as influenza and COVID-19. Update December 31, 2025:
On the evening of December 30 Public Health declared a influenza A outbreak on the Pine Ridge home area at Grey Gables. The affected residents are isolating and receiving care. In an effort to prevent further spread, roommates and high-risk contacts are being closely monitored.
As a reminder, outbreak protocols remain in place as we manage the Influenza A outbreak on Maple Lane home area.
We are working closely with our Public Health partners and monitoring the situation closely. As part of our outbreak response, the following measures are in effect:
- Home wide universal masking (surgical mask) remains in place for all staff and visitors.
- All team members are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Surgical masks or N95 respirators are required when entering an isolation room. PPE signage is posted at the resident’s room.
- Residents in isolation are limited to one (1) Designated Care Partner (DCP).
- General visitors are limited to one (1) per resident on all home areas.
- Increased surveillance and enhanced infection prevention and control measures are in place, including audits and hand hygiene audits.
