Notice: Childcare Support- Walkerton District Community School Closure on Monday June 2, 2025

On behalf of community partners.

 

In response to the planned closure of Walkerton District Community School (WDCS) on Monday, June 2, the community has come together to support families impacted by this schedule change. Day Camp (free) for children ages 4-10 years old will be offered through the Town of Hanover and Bruce County.

Hanover Location:

    •    Venue: Hanover P&H Centre, 269 7th Ave, Hanover
    •    Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
    •    Details: The day will follow a structured day-camp format. Pizza will be provided for lunch. Please pack additional snacks and drinks, including a refillable water bottle.

Walkerton Location:

    •    Venue: Walkerton Community Centre, 290 Durham St W, Walkerton
    •    Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
    •    Details: The day will follow a structured day-camp format. Pizza will be provided for lunch. Please pack additional snacks and drinks, including a refillable water bottle.

No sign-up required, first-come first-served.

We sincerely appreciate the understanding and compassion of WDCS families during this time. This day offers an opportunity for staff and students to take a much-needed pause and reflection.

Please be aware that the following will be required:

  • ID at drop-off and pick-up for parents/caregivers
  • Emergency contact information for children
  • Information on medical concerns including allergies and required medication

Please note that childcare services will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
