January 22 Meeting Highlights
Grey County Council met on January 22, 2026 in the Grey County Council Chamber and virtually on Zoom. The meeting was immediately followed by a session of Committee of the Whole. A recording of the meeting can be found on the Grey County YouTube Channel.
County Council
- Council accepted the minutes of the January 8 Grey County Council and Committee of the Whole meetings. Council Committee
- Council accepted the minutes of the January 15 Long-Term Care Committee of Management Meeting. This meeting included updates from the three homes, the decision to retain Colliers Project Leaders to prepare a comprehensive background report on the existing Rockwood Terrace structure and explore potential development expansion options regarding Grey Gables to inform future decisions, and more. Committee of the Whole
- Council received a delegation from the Clarksburg Village Association regarding traffic calming measures on Marsh Street (Grey Road 13) in Clarksburg. The delegation requested a speed limit reduction to 40 km/h and additional measures. Staff noted this section of Grey Road 13 is to be part of the urban road exchange project later this year. - Council received the minutes of the December 16 Joint Municipal Services Committee. Staff shared highlights from the meeting which included an update on regional waste management strategies and primary healthcare in Grey County and ongoing collaboration work. The meeting included a delegation by Lindsay Johnston, executive director of the Grey Bruce Ontario Health Team (GBOHT). She shared information about GBOHTs 2026-2029 master plan and highlighted that our region needs to focus on healthcare recruitment as a whole to support building capacity and attach more patients to primary care. - Council accepted the minutes of the January 12 Joint Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting. Staff shared highlights from the meeting including the City of Owen Sound Urban Design Guidelines, the Hanover EarlyON design, and the Grey Highlands Accessibility Progress Report. Minutes
- Council received a report on the Resort Condominium Tax Classification. The Town of The Blue Mountains in Grey County is the only place in Ontario where the tax class exists. The Town is growing and will soon exceed the population threshold outlined in the regulation under the Assessment Act. Council directed staff to send correspondence to the Ministry of Finance requesting the threshold be amended to ensure the tax class remains an available option for Grey County and the Town of The Blue Mountains to apply. - Council awarded the construction tender for the new EarlyOn centre in Hanover to Allen Hastings for a cost of $1.9 million. Report
