Together and Apart – Grey and Bruce Counties to Celebrate 2020 Graduates

On Wednesday, June 24th at 7:00 p.m., Grey and Bruce counties are inviting all residents and graduates to make history with a collective at-home graduation celebration.

Who are we celebrating?

Together we will celebrate everyone graduating this year including graduates of kindergarten, grade 8, grade 12, university, college, adult education, childcare, and students moving up to the next level. 

Share your celebrations

Highlight graduating students at home by using the hashtag #GreyBruceGrad2020 on social media.  Join the virtual celebration on the evening of June 24 and share your pictures and stories. You are also encouraged to share your extraordinary stories of life during the COVID-19 pandemic at www.GreyRoots.com.

Make some noise and help celebrate

  • displaying the Grey Bruce Grad 2020 printable poster in your front window
  • make some noise from front yards and balconies at 7:00 p.m. on June 24
  • businesses and community groups are also encouraged to add congratulatory messages to their electronic and customizable signs.

Alpha Street Revitalization

Housing units back patio

The Alpha Street housing community in Owen Sound is one of Grey County’s largest affordable housing properties. Originally built in the 1969, the homes were showing their age. 

Coordinated Rural Transportation

Pilot Closed

The rural transportation pilot project ended in December 2018, but we are continuing to explore more opporunities for rural transportation in Grey County. More information will be shared as it becomes available. 

Age-Friendly Communities Study

We want Grey County to be inclusive and welcoming to people of all ages and abilities. We recently partnered with students from the University of Guelph to look at policies that better support youth and older adults.

Green in Grey - Natural Environment Study

Grey County recently completed a Natural Heritage Study we called Green in Grey. The study identified key natural areas and linkages and recommended policies related to these features.

EPIC

From 2015-2017, Grey County paramedics embarked on a two-year clinical trial to study the effectiveness of community paramedicine in reducing emergency room visits by chronic disease patients.

Redeveloping Long-Term Care

Grey County is making important changes long-term care.  Rockwood Terrace, the County’s 100-bed long-term care home located in Durham needs to be redeveloped by 2025 to meet Provincial licensing requirements.

Recolour Grey

Recolour Grey is the name of Grey County’s update of the County Official Plan.  After three years of public engagement, drafts, revisions and reviews, Recolour Grey was approved by the Province on June 6, 2019. 

Local Food Strategic Plan

Local Food Strategic Plan

Grey County is developing a Local Food Strategic Plan to identify ways of supporting local food projects. Our goal is to understand how food businesses operate with each other, to develop resources and encourage co-operation and partnerships in the sector.
