Front of the Admin Building following the renovation

The expansion and renovation of the Administration Building has brought more services together under one roof, making it easier to receive services in a community hub that is fully accessible.

As part of the project, the Provincial Offences Court has been moved into the Administration Building. The court was below provincial standards and had many structural issues and other problems.

The Administration Building is located at 595 9th Avenue East in Owen Sound.

  • With POA below standards and the Administration Building aging, a Spaces Needs Review Task Force formed in 2011 to thoroughly explore solutions.
  • After years of review, an addition and renovation was recommended as the best solution.
  • In April 2015, County Council directed architects to create construction drawings.
  • A public tender opened for construction in May 2016. Devlan Construction LTD was awarded the project with a low bid of $10,643,000.
  • Ground was broken in July 2016.
  • The new addition was substantially completed in November, 2017.
  • The renovation was substantially completed and the first POA court session was held in July 2018.
  • The the project was completed within the $12.2 million budget, which included site work, HST, architect’s services and other fees associated.
