All schools in Grey County will return to in-person learning on Monday, January 25. Per Ministry of Education directives, the Emergency Child Care program will end in Grey and Bruce Counties on Friday, January 22, 2021.
With the closure of schools during the COVID-19 lockdown, elementary school children are now learning virtually as part of the measures to curb the spread of the virus. During this time, licensed childcare centres are not allowed to serve school-aged children.
To support designated essential workers, the Province has extended a targeted emergency childcare program for eligible families. There is no cost to parents for care. Eligibility is determined by the ministries and includes frontline workers, police, and other services deemed critical. (View List)
Spaces for this service in Grey County are limited. To learn more or apply, contact Grey County Children Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Remote Learning at Emergency Care
Parents accessing Emergency Child Care will be responsible for providing the necessary technology (table or other device, headset) to allow their children to access remote learning through their school.
A limited number of Ministry approved licensed school age programs are available to families eligible for Targeted Emergency Child Care. These programs will adhere to both provincial and public health directives to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
