Becoming a Provider

Grey County Children’s Services Home Child Care is looking for individuals who are interested in developing their own child care business. If you meet our criteria, we will provide you with the support of professional staff as you provide the highest quality child care program and develop a business in your own home.

Home Child Care is licensed by the Ministry of Education to administer the operation of home child care programs in accordance with the Day Nurseries Act. As a provider, you are self-employed, contracted to Grey County Children’s Services to provide child care in your own home for a maximum of 5 children from infants to 12 years of age. Providers are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure that they meet government standards for quality programs and safety.


Brief outline of requirements are:

A suitable location and space with your own homeowners or tenants insurance policy covering contents and liability;
Flexible hours of care to accommodate parents’ work schedules;
A successful criminal reference check for yourself and each adult member of your household;
To attend mandatory training workshops - check Child Care News for upcoming dates;
To maintain a safe home environment for all ages of children;
Program supplies: toys, books, equipment, craft activities (for children of various ages).
 

Grey County Children’s Services will provide:

Regular training workshops;
Provide additional resources and activities to enhance your programs;
Create opportunities to meet other providers and staff through training workshops, outings, playgroups, etc.
