History

In 1998, Bill 152 was passed in the Ontario Legislature, designating Upper-Tier municipalities as the delivery agent for Land Ambulance services throughout the Province. Prior to this bill, the Province utilized various hospitals & private operators to provide ambulance services within the geographical borders of Grey County.

On January 1, 2001, the County of Grey assumed responsibility for oversight of the Ambulance service within Grey County.

On September 4, 2004, the County of Grey assumed operational control of the service. Being able to monitor vehicles, stations, equipment and staffing directly not only improved efficiencies but ensured every community’s needs were met.
