Development Charges

Grey County Council, at its January 3, 2012 session passed the following two development charges by-laws relating to county wide road charges and county wide general charges. The development charges by-laws phase in the increase for the residential development charges over a two year period. The residential development charge applied will depend upon the size of the unit. For example, the residential development charge for a 165 square metre residential unit (approximately 1800 square feet) would cost $3248.82 and would increase after January 1, 2013 to $4183.35. The development charge could either be more or less than these amounts depending upon the size of the residential unit.

For commercial and industrial developments, County Council decided to not apply a development charge. Development charges will be applied to wind turbines at a cost of $5000 per turbine as defined in the development charges by-law.

TAKE NOTICE that any person or organization may appeal the by-law(s) to the Ontario Municipal Board under Section 14 of the Act by filing with the Clerk of the County of Grey, on or before 4:30 p.m. on February 13, 2012, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law(s) and the reasons supporting the objection.
