The office of the County Clerk/Director of Council Services is often viewed as the “hub of the wheel” in the County organization. The Clerk is responsible for the traditional duties of providing legislative and administrative support to County Council. The County Clerk/Director of Council Services is also the custodian of all corporate records (minutes, by-laws) since its incorporation in 1852.
Other duties that fall under the Clerk’s office are:
County forests
8,340 acres of trails, silvicultural management including harvesting.
Economic Development
Former CP Rail Line (Now property of the County of Grey)
The development of the line for multi-use purposes; including trails.
Freedom of Information Requests
The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the Act) provides individuals with a right of access to general records held by municipalities and records containing an individual’s own personal information. The Act also requires municipalities to protect personal information contained in their record holdings. These requirements are outlined in a set of rules governing the collection, use, disclosure and retention of personal information maintained by municipal governments.

This centre houses the museum, archives and tourism staff.
