Barrett Xplore Inc. to Complete Broadband Network
At the August 3, 2010 session of Grey County Council a by-law was passed to contract with Barrett Xplore Inc. (BXI) to complete the Rural Connections broadband project. The project will be completed by October 2011. A detailed schedule will be posted on this web site as soon as more information becomes available.
Some old Everus Towers being Decommissioned
In early August, BXI released a statement to some of their current customers explaining that certain Everus broadcast towers, being at the end of their useful life and unsafe to climb, will be decommissioned as of September 1, 2010. This will impact some existing customers in the County of Grey and those residents are being offered a different service package at a discounted rate until the new high speed internet services can be implemented in 2011. This decision by BXI has no impact on our current Rural Connections Broadband program and will not affect our proceedings in building out the project in other unserviced rural areas.
