Grey County Rural Broadband Initiative 2008-2011
Grey County with its private sector partner, XPLORNET (purchased from Everus Communications Inc. March 2010) are in the midst of building out the Broadband Network so that all areas of the County have access to affordable broadband. The network should be substantially complete by Summer 2011.
For an area to be considered served, 75% of residents of a hexagon have access to affordable broadband. Some people may not have access due to their relative location to a tower site. Wireless is affected by hills and trees. If you are located in a valley with dense tree cover there is a chance that you will not get coverage. Grey County Council made a decision to cover all of the County to 75% rather than a smaller portion to 100%.
